(Reuters) - A suspect who sparked a massive arson fire last year that gutted a multi-story apartment complex under construction in Los Angeles was captured on surveillance tape reviewed by authorities, the Los Angeles Times reported on Monday. The video showed the suspect parking a car on the 110 Freeway before walking into the building with "cans of fuel," the paper said, based on a recording of a community meeting last week addressed by Los Angeles Fire Department Battalion Chief Steve Ruda. Fire department representatives could not be immediately reached for comment.
Rap mogul Jay Z has launched the rebranded Tidal music streaming service with major star backing, hoping to shake up the growing industry through high sound quality and artist control. With veiled swipes at streaming leader Spotify, Jay Z brought out musicians including Madonna, Kanye West and the masked electronic duo Daft Punk, who will all be equity partners in the new Tidal. Jay Z earlier this year bought Tidal, which markets itself to audiophiles, by spending $56 million for its Swedish-listed parent company Aspiro. At the announcement in New York, singer Alicia Keys hinted that some musicians could choose to release material exclusively or early on the artist-owned service.

Armed prisoner on the run after escaping from D.C.-area hospital
(Reuters) - An armed prisoner was on the run early on Tuesday after escaping from a hospital in northern Virginia where shots were fired, police and CBS News said. The prisoner, identified as Wossen Assaye by the Fairfax County Police Department, broke free from a private security guard at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia, and fled with the guard's weapon, the department said on its Twitter account. It was not clear who opened fire or whether anyone was injured, police spokeswoman Ellen Pittman told CBS. Roads around the hospital were shut down as authorities from several different agencies searched for the suspect, who was dressed only in a hospital gown, police said.
