Americans say blacks treated less fairly in 2015 than 2007: Gallup

Overall, about 49 percent of respondents said they were satisfied, compared to 62 percent just two years ago, pollsters said. The survey of more than 2,000 respondents, conducted from June 15 until July 10, comes at a tense time between U.S. law enforcement and the communities in which they operate, particularly after grand jury decisions not to indict white officers who killed unarmed black men in Ferguson, Missouri, and in New York City.

Chile's lawmakers take key step toward decriminalizing abortion

Amid applause from the gallery, the Health Commission of Chile's Chamber of Deputies voted eight to five to move forward on President Michelle Bachelet's landmark proposal to allow pregnancy terminations in certain circumstances. To become law, the bill will still need to win simple majorities in both the Chamber and the Senate, which could be difficult as the project faces significant opposition in both houses.


University of Cincinnati creates safety post after fatal shooting

Body cam video shows University of Cincinnati police officer Ray Tensing standing near Dubose vehicle in CincinnatiRobin Engel, a criminal justice professor and researcher at the university, has been named to the post and her appointment will be effective immediately, it said. "I am fully committed to making any needed changes to our UC Police Department. University police officer Raymond Tensing was indicted in July on murder charges in the fatal shooting of unarmed black motorist Samuel DuBose.
