(LOS ANGELES) — Oscar-nominated actor James Woods may be better known for his sometimes controversial tweets than for his acting roles these days, but he’d like everybody to know he has not retired from acting…despite what one real estate posting recently claimed.
Woods tells The Washington Post that when he was listing one of his properties in Rhode Island, his realtor added an unexpected detail in the ad. “Longtime Rhode Island resident and Warwick Pilgrim High School graduate James Woods, veteran of nearly 150 movies and television shows, has announced today that his recent retirement from the entertainment field has prompted him to simplify his life,” read the ad.
The whole thing was a misunderstanding, apparently, even though the realtor dictated the listing to him before it was submitted.
“I was not paying attention,” Woods claims. “I somehow didn’t hear ‘retirement.'”
However, others did, and the story caught fire, until Woods himself took to Twitter to throw cold water on it Sunday. “The reports of my retirement are greatly exaggerated… ( 😉 to Mark Twain),” the actor posted using a winkey face emoji.
“My career is not going to end in a real estate announcement,” he told the paper, adding that he got a laugh watching how the story played out.
“I do not remotely take myself seriously in any way,” he said. “Why do you think I’m on Family Guy?”
