    • Centers for Children and Families – You can help be a blessing to a child this Christmas! Centers is hosting its “Operation Elf” TOY DRIVE through November 22nd. They are collecting NEW, unwrapped toys for children ages 4-12 and accepting donations for the purchase of gift cards for teens.     • The Midland Fire Department’s 2021 Fire Prevention Poster Contest is coming up… the contest is open to all students in kindergarten through 12th grade in Midland County and prizes will be awarded in each division. This year’s theme is “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety” – Posters must be turned in to the Midland Fire Department’s Central Fire Station on Wall Street by Friday, October 1st.  Poster contest info.
    • The Gun and Blade Show is going to be at the Ector County Coliseum on Saturday and Sunday, October 2nd and 3rd. The event will run 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $7 for adults, while children 12 and under get in free. Law enforcement can also get in free if they show their badge. Military or NRA/TSRA can get $1 off their admission with an ID. Admission is cash only at the door and special offers are limited to one at a time. More info here.
    • Midland County Library is hosting a fun event where you can learn how to draw cartoon and comic images. Held in-person and on Zoom. No experience necessary. All ages welcome. Registration required, click here for details.
    • The Ellen Noël Art Museum will be holding its 5th Annual West Texas Fest on October 1. This event is a fundraiser for the museum to allow it to continue providing art exhibits, community events, workshops and more. VIPs can visit the Midland Shooters Association Shot Gun Range at 6 p.m., while general admission starts at 7 p.m. All guests must be 21 or over to attend. There will be drinks, food trucks, photo booth, music, a corn hole tournament, and lots more. All the details here.
